Complimentary Orthodontic Examination for Patients of All Ages
A child’s first visit to the dentist should be enjoyable. Children are not born with a natural fear of the dentist, but they can fear the unknown. Our office makes a special effort to use pleasant, non-frightening, simple words to describe each treatment. We want you and your child to feel at ease from the moment your family arrives at our office. The more you and your child know about the first visit, the better you will feel.
The American Academy Of Pediatric Dentistry Recommends that children should visit the dentist by their first birthday. It is important that your child’s newly erupted teeth (erupting at six and 12 months of age) receive proper dental care and benefit from proper oral hygiene habits right from the beginning.

Adopt Healthy Oral Hygiene Habits
Check your child’s emerging teeth biweekly for signs of decay. Limit sugary intake and ensure brushing after meals and snacks.
Brush four times daily for optimal care. From the first tooth, make brushing enjoyable. Use a soft brush and pea-sized toothpaste for babies. For those under two, avoid fluoride toothpaste unless advised. Teach proper brushing methods.
Flossing is key; consult your doctor on when to start. If you notice decay, contact your pediatric dentist immediately.
Your child’s baby teeth start emerging between 6-12 months, continuing until age three. During this, their gums might be sore. Ease the discomfort by rubbing their gums with a clean finger, wet cloth, or using a teething ring. By the end, they’ll have 20 primary teeth. These teeth shed throughout childhood, and permanent ones emerge from age six to 21. Adults have 28 permanent teeth, or 32 with wisdom teeth.
Prevent Tooth Decay With Regular Checkups
Tooth decay results from sugars in the mouth turning into acid, damaging teeth. Children are especially at risk due to often inconsistent oral hygiene. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups can prevent this decay.
Your child should see the dentist every six months for cleanings and checkups. Biannual fluoride treatments are advised to strengthen teeth. We also recommend tooth sealants to protect deep grooves, preventing decay in tricky areas. Sealants are durable but will be checked during regular visits.
